Chairman’s Report – February, 2025
COMMITTED
TO KEEPING
COLLIN RED

Chairman’s Notes
We have a phenomenal team, and we’ve accomplished some phenomenal things together in the past few months!
When the prior Chairman said he was stepping down and asked me to run, I decided to do so with three primary goals: 1) bring some immediate stability to the party, 2) see us through the critical 2024 elections, and 3) establish a solid foundation for the future success of the Collin County GOP–the Largest Red County in Texas.
We did get a bit of stabilization, and we hit the campaign trail hard with our goal of engaging “the countless Republicans who don’t yet know they’re Republican.”
I’m proud to report that our team drove the highest voter turnout of any of the ten largest counties in Texas, and we got redder doing it!
The 2024 Elections
We hit the ground running and developed a holistic, multi-point marketing campaign for the elections. The key was cohesion with messaging and outreach.
We created the themed election slogans, “Make Groceries Affordable Again,” “Make the Border Secure Again,” and “Make Our Kids Safe Again,” and launched the messaging through a variety of mediums:
- Road signs and yard signs
- Social media ads
- Text ads
- Push cards through block walking
- Poll Greeting
- Apparel and swag
We also produced signs in several Indian languages to reach the large Indian community in North Texas. Our efforts were featured by WFAA. Watch the news story here!
We engaged the broader community in a brand new way, breaking the political event mold with a Tri-County GOP Cricket Tournament, a Classic Car Show, sponsoring the Celina Oktoberfest Beer Pong Tournament, and holding several socials open to the public that drew a ton of new faces.
So many people capped off their hard work with a watch party on election night attended by hundreds, where we were able to unwind and celebrate the tremendous results of the November election!
Since the Election
We took a bit of a breather, but we haven’t slowed down! The team has been cranking away on numerous initiatives to elevate the stature and capability of the CCGOP.
CCGOP Charter Member Program: yes, I know a Charter Member is a member of something new, but we’re reinventing the CCGOP, so jump on board! Join today at the Grassroots, Liberty, or Patriot levels and help make the Largest Red County in Texas Larger Than Life!
The Electoral College: Presidential Electors Sue Reeves and Karl Voigtsberger went to Austin to cast their Electoral College votes for President Trump! Thanks Sue and Karl for your service and your vote!
Technology Modernization: Tech Team Director Frank DeSimone and team are revitalizing our entire technology stack to catapult us into the twenty-first century.
Headquarters Relocation: that’s right, we’re moving! Don’t ask where yet, because that’s what this committee led by Gary Cary is going to determine. We’ve outgrown our digs and we’re looking for a more central location worthy of the Largest Red County in Texas.
Organizational Evaluation: this committee, led by Cody Weaver, is taking a giant step back from the trees to look at the forest to assess the most productive way for the CCGOP to organize and operate in 2025 and beyond. We can’t keep doing things the same old way, but so many people have put in so much work to make the Republican Party what it is in Collin County, so if we see further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants. We honor the work they’ve done before us.
Enabling Materials: Millennial Marketing Maven Shelby Johnston is creating materials for Precinct Chairs and grassroots volunteers to take voter engagement to the next level, including special signs for Precinct Chairs and literature to share with others in the off-season for outreach efforts.
The 89th Legislative Session: we chartered a bus to the Texas Capitol for the first day of the 89th Legislative Session in January. I’ll be real, it’s off to a rocky start. Read my recap here.
New Collin County Elections Administrator: by virtue of serving as Collin County Republican Chair, I also serve on the County Elections Commission. I participated in the testing of our voting machines in October (see my statement on that here), and after the retirement of Bruce Sherbet, I had the opportunity to work with the Democrat County Chair Jeremy Sutka, County Judge Chris Hill, County Clerk Stacey Kemp, and new Tax Assessor-Collector Scott Grigg to appoint our new County Elections Administrator, Kaleb Breaux. Congratulations, Kaleb!
What’s Next
The 2025 CCGOP Lincoln Day Dinner: Cleo Marchese is taking on planning of this year’s Lincoln Day Dinner, so join us with guest speakers Ted Nugent and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick at the Historic Southfork Ranch. Get tickets and tables here!
The 89th Legislative Session: we have legislative priorities to consider and advocate for, including some that are local, such as DART reform. We’ll always advocate for pro-liberty, pro-prosperity policy, and we’re looking forward to advancing legislation to better the lives of the people of Collin County.
Local Elections: local elections are coming up in May around the county. Look for info on city council, school board, and Collin College elections.
Community Outreach & Events: more car shows, more socials, and more good times! Thank you Cleo Marchese, Steve Kleinberg, Ken Cook! And a special thank you to Michael & Leah Slaughter for the car shows!
Educational Programming: Training Director Jennifer Groysman is teeing up programs to help folks better understand how things work at all levels of government, getting time with elected officials, and providing training for grassroots volunteers. Stay tuned for details.
Remembering Fred Moses: today, my friend and former Collin County Republican Party Chair and Collin College Trustee Fred Moses will be laid to rest. You can read our announcement about Fred’s passing here. Fred was a tremendous man of faith and an exemplar of integrity and moral conduct. Fred served our community honorably for many years and his loss will be felt deeply.
Thank you to our CCGOP Vice-Chairs Stephen Kallas, Brian Fletcher, Maria Garcia, and (formerly) Deanna Kuykendall, Executive Director Terry Wade, General Counsel Extraordinare Byron Henry, Secretary Sue Reeves, Parliamentarian Steven Bolen, and our Sergeants at Arms, Dave Scott, Matt Thorsen, Jordan Hulcy, and Richard Rogers!
