The Collin County Republican Party and all Collin County citizens lost a good friend and a strong advocate for the people with the passing of Linda Schenck on Saturday from cancer, and wishes to pass on condolences to the Schenck family.

Born in Texas, Linda joined her first Republican Club in 1980 and has served as an officer for numerous clubs in the area. Always willing to accept leadership positions, Linda served the Texas Federation of Republican Women at various times as a District Director, Board Member and Board Secretary.

A thirty year Precinct Chair, Linda received the Gladys Harrington Award in 2002, given to an outstanding precinct chair in recognition of service to the Republican Party. Linda was the Chairman for the Collin County Lincoln Day Dinner in 2007, and served as the First Vice Chairman of the Collin County Republican Party under two County Chairman, Kathy Ward and Fred Moses.

Linda worked as District Assistant for Congressman Ralph Hall for 10 years in the McKinney office, and assisted thousands of citizens in areas including obtaining passports, Social Security and Veterans benefits, and worked with numerous Federal agencies. She was also a tireless campaign worked and precinct organizer, and worked on many campaigns over the years.

Linda is survived by her husband Stephen, daughter Debra, son Kenneth, granddaughter Erica, one brother, one sister and her mother, Ann. Funeral services for Linda will be held on Wednesday, June 10th at 4:00 PM at the Jackson Turrentine Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 North Central Expressway, in Allen, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Texas Federation of Republican Women for a scholarship that is in the process of being established in her honor.
