Ebby Halliday, who was a major player in Dallas area Real Estate for over 60 years, passed away in her sleep on Septrember 8th at the age of 104.

Halliday started in business in 1929 in Abilene, Kansas in 1929, selling hats at a store. Within a year she was the top saleswomen.  She moved to Texas in the 1930’s, selling hats and later founder her own business, Ebby’s Hats.

In 1945 Ebby Halliday Realtors was contracted to sell 52 hard-to-sell experimental insulated cement homes on the old Walnut Hill Golf Course in Dallas.  These selling of these homes was the springboard that led to a company that is now one of the largest privately-owned real estate firms in the nation.

Ebby Halliday not only shaped the industry, she was a strong believer in community service, assisting numerous causes and being honored with many awards, including the Horatio Alger Award in 2005.  She was a good friend of the Republican Party, assisting many candidates and officeholders over the years.

The Collin County Republican Party sends its condolences to the Ebby Halliday Family.  The Metroplex truly lost a community icon in her passing.
